Best Restaurants in Tulum with kids

Monday, July 3

Tulum is a mecca when it comes to food, especially when you have food allergies like yours truly! I am allergic to gluten and dairy, and while I have been able to make it work in all my travels, eating in Tulum is a special treat because so many restaurants offer g/d -free items that are scrumptious!

Wether you have food allergies or not, Tulum is your place for a fun culinary experience! From cheap 30 cent tacos, to fancy gourmet meals, and everything in between, Tulum offers something for everyone! We had 3 children when we visited Tulum (now we have 4) and these restaurants were all super kid friendly!

Here is a round-up of some of my favorite places:

Tulum Town:

Burrito Amor
This little gem, right on the main drag in Tulum, is both adorable and delicious. The price point is good, and there are lots of gluten free options! Lots of space for the kids to bop around both on the patio and inside.

Antojitos La Chiapaneca
Right in the center of town, this popular spot for authentic Mexican food has some of the cheapest tacos in town. Tacos start at 60 cents. While many people loved the pork, I preferred the asada and chicken. The chips and guacamole were delicious as well! My kids loved watching them shave meat off the BBQ.

Matcha Mama
This local spot known for it's smoothies, açaí bowls, and ice cream has 3 locations around the city...in Tulum Town, in Aldea Zama close to where we stayed, and by the beach. The beach location is the cutest little shack with a swing and is definitely an IG photo spot if you're in to that sort of thing haha! Each location has swings my kids LOVED swinging on! (Their "nice cream" was AMAZING..dairy and refined sugar free! yum yum!

Aldo's
This ice cream shop came in clutch with the kiddos. They have delicious gelato and even had 3 dairy free flavors, which I appreciated!

For a more elevated dining experience, check out Mamazul Tulum Mezcaleria. Our friend's ate here and said it was delicious!

By the Beach:

Ok, so to preface...ANY food at the beach resorts are overpriced. You just have to resign yourself to the fact that it's going to be expensive!

RAW LOVE
Located in the gorgeous Ahau Hotel, Raw Love is perfect for anyone with allergies...our family devoured the delicious smoothie bowl and I was drooling over all the healthy food and drink options available! The location is stunning with swings and hammocks to relax in, perfect for kids!

The Real Coconut

This was probably the most stunning and serene location of any restaurant we went to. Located on the premise of Sanara Tulum Hotel, it was a 2 minute walk for us staying at La Zebra Hotel. The restaurant is adorable and with all the windows and doors open to the beach, it felt like a fake backdrop it was that gorgeous! This place is not cheap...it felt a bit overpriced, but it does have SO many allergy free options and the backdrop is beautiful, I would still splurge and go again for the experience. They were very kid friendly and had high chairs for my children.

La Zebra
We stayed at this resort (you can read more about my review of it here) and honestly, every single thing we put in to our mouth was delicious! (But again, expensive!). However, the food and location are so prime. They have an outdoor playground in the sand that is right next to the dining room, so our kids played while we waited for food each meal!

Food Trucks

My favorite place to eat beachside was at the food truck area across the street from La Zebra. There were 5 food trucks (tacos, pizza, paninis, fajitas, and poke bowls). and they were priced way more affordable than the resorts. The tacos were so delicious! We mostly opted to eat here as it saved us way more money than eating at a beach resort!

Let's Roll

This is a super unique ice cream shop along the road down the street from La Zebra. They roll ice cream into swirly rolls and it's fascinating to watch, my kids loved it! Once my kids got their ice cream, they sat on the swings and ate it. Again, very kid friendly and very unique! La Onda
This is close to Let's Roll on the Main Street along the beach. It's definitely not the cutest place, but we were looking for something slightly more affordable. And as it turns out...it was one of my absolute favorite meals of the trip! The food was really yummy.

Lastly, if you are looking for a more elevated dining experience along the beach, try Ocumare. This was our friend's favorite food of their entire trip, and while we didn't get a chance to go, we trust their culinary judgement! haha!

Wherever you choose to eat will most likely be a win! Tulum just knows how to pull off good food!!

Enjoy, and let me know your favorite restaurants in Tulum!! xoxo
