Princeville Area

Thursday, March 5

While we love Kapaa for a home base, the Princeville/Hanalei area is a lot of fun to explore. The beach at Hanalei is so beautiful, I could not stop ohhhhing and ahhhing! . Hanalei is actually where the pro-surfer Bethany Hamilton is from, and we rented the movie about her life and shark attack, Soul Surfer, at the front desk of our hotel. You will recognize so much from the movie!

We've stayed in the Princeville area twice now, and here are our favorite things to do...

- Eat at the food trucks in downtown Princeville. I'm gluten and dairy free, and I was So excited to find Fresh Bite Kauai, which is a food truck that offers super healthy and delicious food. I got the Winter Kuaian bowl which consisted of Kale Massaged with Honey Mustard Dressing, Topped With Local Seasonal Roasted Vegetables, and Roasted Macadamia Nuts. It was yummy! Kevin ate at a food truck called Trucking Delicious, consisting of local Hawaiian fare, and loved it.

- Spend the day on Hanalei beach. It's beautiful, the water is warm and the sand is gorgeous!

- Play at a playground! There are so many playground in the area for kiddos. Our favorite was Anaina Hou Community Park playground. Avonlea did not want to leave!

- One activity we haven't done yet, but can't wait to try out next time we go, is kayaking. The company Kayak Hanalei has Kayak tours around the river that goes through the area, as well as the ocean. When our kids are a bit older (aka NOT babies, haha) we hope to do this!

While we are so glad we spent a few days in the Hanalei area, I still prefer Kapaa as a better home base for kiddos!  xoxo
