hello sweet readers, old and new:)
this year has been quite a ride for Kev and I!
so many of you have emailed asking me what's next {I love you for that!},
and so today I thought I'd take a minute to share a small tidbit of
where we've been this year, and where we are going now.
It's exciting {and nerve-racking!!} all at the same time:)
let's go...
Nepal:
Kev and I spent 5 months in Nepal working for an aftercare home. In that time our lives were changed by the love and beauty we saw each day! We miss our girls! To read more about Nepal, see the archives between April-Sept of this year:)
Europe:
This summer my parents generously flew Kev and I out to Europe (from Nepal) so we could go to the wedding of our old swiss exchange student. We had so much fun traveling around with my family between france, belgium, luxembourg, germany and holland. More posts coming soon!
We spent a week on Railey beach, debriefing life and recharging after an emotional goodbye from the girls house in Nepal. It was glorious...
Cambodia:
From Thailand, we continued on to Cambodia...a country that will remain in our hearts forever. So so much history from the ancient Angkor Wat temples, to the devestating reign of Pol Pot. We loved this place and the people.
Vietnam:
Without a doubt one of my favorite countries I've ever been too. Unbelievably breathtaking matched with a crazy yum-yum food scene. A great place to end our travels before heading back to the USA!
Northern California:
After flying back to LA to see Kev's parents, we drove up to northern california to work on my dad's farm. Our motto was "why not?" and we had such a blast seeing the rice harvest through from start to finish! {and I got my own tractor, which um...is pretty darn awesome! }
Southern California:
Welp, we are back in the saddle in our hometown. It's scary trying to figure out what is next.
Can I get an amen from anyone else in a transition season? haha
At the moment, here are a few things coming up in our life...
1. Grad School: I'm applying to go back to school to get my masters in counseling. After seeing the incredible breakthrough our counselors in Nepal were having with the girls, I knew I wanted to spend my life working in the sacred space of healing.
I feel so good about this decision, which is rare for me. I tend to second guess my decisions a lot.
2. Photography: Lately, I've been having a lot of people contact me about taking professional pictures of them. I've loved doing it, and I'm praying about where this might take me:) If you are following along this journey, my pictures from Europe and SE Asia will be making appearances on the blog soon!
also as a side note...the theme for this month's "photo-shoot link-up" on the 15th is:
"yard sale/thrift store finds!"
post some pictures of you either wearing some sweet clothes you scored second hand,
or, snap some shots of the way you've decorated your home with rockin deals!!
can't wait to see them! {last month's Fall themed photo shoot here}
3. Housing: Kev and I are praying about where to live. Both of us feel a strong call to live amidst immigrants, as we LOVE building relationships and welcoming people. I'm praying big, and just have this feeling God will show us exactly where he wants us to be,
wether that's our old neighborhood or a new one!
4. Travel: Welp, if you've hung out here long enough you know that Kev and I can't go more than a few months without jetsetting. We're spinning the globe to see where to go to next:) I'm itching to get back to Nepal too!!
Oh friends, I cannot even sincerely tell you how thankful I am for you walking alongside us!
I am infinitely grateful!
And to new readers, I'm so excited to meet you...so please introduce yourself!!
love love love,
Katie
